Chinese vice premier meets ECLAC executive secretary to talk about cooperation

Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with Alicia Barcena, executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), on Tuesday.

Beijing, October 16 (Xinhua)- Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with Alicia Barcena, executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), on Tuesday.

Hui said China highly values the relationship with the ECLAC and will enhance contacts with the organization to push forward cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean areas.

Hui also hailed the role played by the ECLAC in advancing such cooperation, saying the two sides enjoy huge cooperation potential.

As China is an important power and Latin America is emerging, closer bilateral cooperation will be of significance, Barcena said, noting that the two sides' economies are complementary.

Barcena also expressed a willingness to contribute to deepening cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean areas.
