Lima, November 27 (Andina)- Peru and Mexico has strengthened cooperation to combat drug trafficking and organized crime this year, Peruvian ambassador to Mexico, Elizabeth Astete said.

"Both countries give high priority to combating transnational crime and drug trafficking that know no borders. They not only work on bilateral mechanism related to these issues but join efforts at regional and multilateral levels," she told El Peruano newspaper.

Astete noted that Peru is actively involved in the initiative led by Mexico to create a united form against transnational crime.

She also said that Peru's Foreign Minister Rafael Roncagliolo and Mexico's Foreign Affairs Patricia Espinosa have hold talks to assess progress in cooperation.
