Malabo, February 22 (PL)- The 3rd Summit of the Forum on Africa and South America (ASA), began its deliberations yesterday here while they are still arriving about 30 leaders from both regions.

Goodluck Jonathan (Nigeria), Alassane Ouattara (Ivory Coast), Manuel Pinto da Costa (Sao Tome and Principe), and Denis Sassou Nguesso (Congo), are among the presidents now in this event in Equatorial Guinea.

The program of the summit, whose main objective is to strengthen South-South cooperation, provides a special and private contact Thursday between leaders of the two areas on strategies and mechanisms to implement their purposes.

Senior Officials discuss on funding mechanisms to implement projects already approved, while Foreign Ministers are expected to meet today.

The initial program for this forum includes the presentation of roundtables on investment and business, according to the Press and Information Office of the President of Equatorial Guinea.

The forum, which is held in the Palace of Conferences Sipopo and will last until Saturday, is also about energy projects, transportation, science, tourism, infrastructure, technology, trade, mining, investment and security.

Wednesday's meeting included business exchanges on business level, preparations for the summit, which must approve key documents for the consecration of the ASA.

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, and her Bolivian and Benin counterparts, Evo Morales and Boni Yayi, respectively, announced their attendance at the meeting.

The presidents of Burundi, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Gabon, Malawi, Senegal, Somalia, Swaziland, South Africa and Sudan will arrive here today to attend the forum.
